The best place to visit, eat enjoy have a margarita... The atmosphere was fun. FOOD oh my gosh I should have taken a photo. I just really enjoyed it too much... 😁

The pumpkin soup is delicious!!!The food is great, staff friendly. The pumpkin soup is seasonal, and worth the trip.There is both outdoors and inside seating. I was there for a private event, in the courtyard, at Halloween time. Great place to eat before going to the playhouse across the street.

Always great Mexican food

Great rice and beans. Everything was delicious- chicken enchilada, chile relleno and molé . Also, excellent service.

THE BEST mayan food I have ever had. The Panuchos were delicious. My wife tried there Cochinita Pibil and she loved it. By far the best location for Mexican and Mayan cuisine. Service was top class and Beto was very attentive and nice. They have live music. First time there and was impressed. Will be coming back soon

Always special! Off and on rainy Sunday but outdoors dining was still possible. Excellent seasonal squash soup and chille relleno par excellence!! Friendly service. A nice experience. Enjoy!

I've heard a lot of good things about this place so, I finally paid a visit. The food was good but it wasn't what it was hyped up to be. Additionally, you have to pay for parking. El Portal will validate for one hour but you could end up paying up to $10 if you stay over that hour. (The lot charges you every 1/2 hour) Aside from that, service is fast, friendly, and attentive.

Yucatan region food is delicious! One of those places you leave the plate completely empty! Hint, ask for the habenero salsa....🔥

One of the best Yucatecan restaurants in LA. Family owned for decades. Friendly service, the requisite excellent margaritas. Indoor dining plus and expansive patio. Strolling mariachis, frequent promotional tequila tastings.

I'm a regular here for the burrito with verde sauce. It's not the best Mexican food in Los Angeles, but it's better than average and more accessible than much of the best. The enchiladas mole and pork pibil are also very good. Good service and nice decor as well. Feels a bit more posh than many non-chain Mexican restaurants.

I had the pleasure of randomly discovering this wonderful place.I enjoyed the staff, the service,more importantly the cochinita pibil was excellent.Compounded by the fact the entire staff and folks I met were fanatical about providing exceptional customer service.Not the best in LA, but by far one of my top choices.

Last week was the first time we visited this fine restaurant. But It is obviously not the last. We enjoyed the evening a lot with the excellent service, with the magnificent food and booze and with the comfortable payment. We will no doubt come back in a short time.

This was my first time eating here. I can tell you that when I was done eating I was glad that my sister had suggested we eat here. Service was professional and friendly. The food was very, very good. I highly recommend this place.

El Portal is definitely old school. We’ve been coming for years and it’s always the same. The chips are borderline old, the salsa tastes canned. The still misses an order. It’s cute and kitschy but it’s really showing it’s age.

5 stars for atmosphere and genuine experience. Staff is very friendly. Quality of food is very good. Not to be missed.

My sister ordered the veggie burrito. It had refried beans and frozen vegetables in it. No spices or flavor either. Even frozen burritos from costco have more flavor. Pretty pathetic considering the $15 price. Also the lettuce in my salad was old the the point where it becomes yellow and translucent. If i was not so hungry and the place had better lighting, i wouldnt have eaten any of it. never coming here again.

Was on the way to another restaurant when the patio caught my eye. I love eating outdoors and it looked fun and “gardeny.” Glad I stopped by. I enjoyed the food.

I ate here in August and found a very large chicken bone in my enchilada. Like the length and width of a dry erase marker. That didn't bother me a ton, but the waiter just didn't seem to care! Otherwise good food...Good experience last week, but I was a little concerned seeing the cursory way some of the staff washed glasses at the bar.

One of my favorite places for a family dinner. I love the outdoor area, margaritas and delicious food. They'll have a Mariachi band playing most nights and the service is always great.

It was my first time dining there and I thought it was great all the way around. The service was good and the food was even better. The mole was off the chain (tasty)! And it was a nice day so the patio seating was the cherry on top. Booyah!

Honestly the food was decent. I had the carnitas plate, the carnitas were good, the beans were from a can, the rice was bland, the pisco was good but the scoop of guacamole I didn't eat. The scoop of guacamole looked like it been scooped from a container that had been sitting there for hours. The guacamole looked dark. The sodas, coke a cola, someone needed to check the syrup because the ones we were served were flat and watery. Came from the valley to eat there, service was great but serving canned beans and not so fresh guacamole can't be called authentic Mexicano.

Food was great... Our server was good. However, I noticed that everyone else got a picture to purchase, except us... I'm hoping it was not because of the color of my skin.

Food and service were perfect Steak fajitas had great flavor The patio was really nice. Perfect place to chat. Waiter was attentive but not over the top.
